A few days ago, Spartak Ghukasyan, son of the former mayor of Gyumri and newly-elected MP Vardan Ghukasyan, badly beat up multiple employees of a gas station owned by his family. Among those assaulted by Ghukasyan, according to Zhoghovurd newspaper, was Aghasi Janoyan, nephew of the deputy director of the Shirak branch of Gazprom Armenia.
“The young man’s eye is so damaged that he could go blind,” the paper writes.
Note, this is not the first violent incident involving the Ghukasyan family; in 2016, in particular, local media reported that Vardan and Spartak Ghukasyans had beaten up [ARM] Olympic Armenia sports union coach Garik Baghdasaryan. Over the past several years, Spartak Ghukasyan has been detained by Gyumri police at least twice.
