1-Year-Old Dies after Dad’s Beatings

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has released a statement regarding the homicide of Arman Grigoryan, a 1-year-old infant in Armavir Marz. According to preliminary investigation, Roustam Manoukyan, father of the infant, beat up his child who died as a result of the inflicted injuries. According to the mother of the infant, Ovsanna Grigoryan, on the same day Roustam assaulted her too.

“With the participation of the infant’s mother, observation of the site was conducted, it was found out that attempts were made to hide the body of the infant in a hole in the backyard in order to conceal the murder, however the infant’s mother grabbed the body and ran away to reach a medical center, where the doctors gave a final conclusion about the death of the infant,” states the press release of the Investigative Committee.

A criminal investigation has opened based on Article 104, Part 1 (murder) and Article 118 Part 1 (beating) of Armenia’s Criminal Code.

Roustam Manoukyan is in detention.
