Environmentalist Sacked During Inspections at Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine

On January 21st, the last day of environmental inspections at Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine, Artur Grigoryan, head of the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources is sacked by Prime-Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s decision.

The text of the decision reads: “According to Article 8, Part 1 of the RA Law on Inspectorates, Artur Grigoryan is dismissed from the position of the head of the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources.”

Part 1 of Article 8 specifies that the position of the head of the inspectorate is discretionary. The head of the inspectorate is appointed, dismissed, awarded, called for responsibility by the Prime Minister of Armenia at the proposal of the Board of the Inspectorate.

Environmentalist Artur Grigoryan was appointed to the post on June 22, 2018.
