Ruling Party Wants to Dissolve the Parliament in Azerbaijan

“Yeni Azerbaijan” ruling party’s political committee has motioned to call for snap elections in Azerbaijan. The majority of the party’s committee voted in favor of the decision to dissolve the parliament.

The decision is explained by the argument that the current composition of the parliament does not conform to Ilyam Aliyev’s and the ruling party’s policies and the parliament has in effect been left out of the reforms implemented in the country.

“Yeni Azerbaijan” will motion this question to the Mejlis on November 29, 2019, while a letter is in preparation to be sent to President Aliyev on appointing snap elections.
