I think that the threats by Azerbaijan’s defense ministry against Armenia contain element of PR, said expert on Caucasus affairs Mamuka Areshidze, reports GHN news agency.
“I am guessing that the probability of a renewed war is 50/50… It’s a fact that the situation is in a deadlock. Because of the ambition and passivity of international organizations, there isn’t even the imitation of some kind of action to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict; for this reason the Azerbaijani side has no choice but to make such statements,” he explained.
According to Areshidze, in case of renewed hostilities, it will be a war not only between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but it will be felt across the region and have an effect on the geopolitical situation.
“Specifically, it will throw Georgia back 25–30 years, and it will only warm the hands of our enemies,” he said.
