Space Shuttle Atlantis will blast off today on its last mission (STS-135) to the International Space Station, reports the Huffington Post.
The craft lifts off at 11:26 am ET from Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
This launch marks not only the end of Atlantis’s career, which began in 1985, but also the end of NASA’s Space Shuttle program, which began in 1981 with the first launch of Shuttle Columbia.
