Layered clothing will be in fashion in 2012, the year of the dragon, as it recalls the scales on a dragon’s back, designer Aram Nikolyan told Epress.am.
Nikolyan doesn’t see a connection between fashion and astrological forecasts — such as if you wear red or gold clothing on New Year’s Eve then the year will be successful and so on.
“At the same time, I also can’t not accept the connection for the reason that it makes people’s everyday more interesting; that is, people, believing and following such advice, begin to take certain steps,” he said.
The designer asserts that these are separate topics of interest having no connection to fashion trends, which existed in different time periods.
“According to astrologers, red and gold are colors characteristic of the East, while European astrologers advise wearing more pastel colors on New Year’s Eve,” he said.
Nevertheless, according to Nikolyan, the current colors considered to be the link between fashion and the year of the dragon are fire-engine red and orange.
“In terms of the silhouette, also current are styles resembling the scales on a dragon’s back on clothes, which can create some link between fashion and the dragon. Bouffant clothes which were fashionable years ago are fashionable now too. Also establishing the link between dragons and fashion are pieces in winter collections having bright hues — also pieces having reptilian and snake-like aspects resembling a dragon,” he said.
In the year of dragon, Nikolyan advises to place importance on the right combination of clothing and body type.
“Since we live in a time when every clothing can be considered fashionable, it’s very important that each person try not to resemble someone else, but rather create her style and differ from others,” he concluded.
