Opposition Member Sasun Mikaelyan Confident of Victory in Hrazdan Mayoral Elections (PHOTOS)

Armenian National Congress (HAK) representative and candidate in the upcoming mayoral elections in the Armenian city of Hrazdan Sasun Mikaelyan (pictured below, first photo, on the right) at an election rally on Thursday promised after he assumes office not to make redundant those officials “who served the people and did not engage in corruption practices.”

At the election rally in Hrazdan, apart from Mikaelyan, campaign manager Hakob Avagumyan, and HAK representatives Aram Sargsyan, Nikol Pashinyan (pictured below, first photo, on the mic), Vahan Vardapetyan and Mesrop Mesropyan also addressed the crowd.

As told to Epress.am by HAK foreign affairs committee representative Vladimir Karapetyan, who was also in Hrazdan, the rally drew large numbers.

Mikaelyan, speaking to supporters, described how in a promotional video for his opponent, incumbent Aram Danielyan, the head of Hrazdan TPC (the municipal office where residents pay for garbage pick-up and other such utilities) said Danielyan is a professional in his work and furthermore, he’s a good electrician. Responding to this statement, Mikaelyan jokingly said on Monday (the day after elections), he will send Danielyan to Hrazdan TPC so that the head of Hrazdan TPC can give him a job as an electrician.

On Friday, Danielyan will be staging an election concert. According to Mikaelyan, this will be the current mayor’s “Last Bell” (the name given to the graduation ceremony for high school students in Armenia), after which he will “ceremoniously see him off.”

Note, as well, Friday is officially the last day for the election campaign: after today, candidates are prohibited from campaigning.
