Criminal proceedings have been launched in a case involving Spartak Ghukasyan, son of the former mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan, reports News.am [AM], citing its sources.
On Jan. 21, Spartak Ghukasyan, on his way to current mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanyan's house with his friends, began to curse and threaten to beat Balasanyan. Ghukasyan was released after he provided explanations at the police station.
According to News.am, the criminal case was launched on the basis of Article 258 Section 1 of the RA Criminal Code (hooliganism: intentional and gross violation of public order expressed through a blatant disrespect towards the public).
If convicted, Ghukasyan faces a fine of up to five times the amount of the minimum salary or imprisonment of up to one month.
