“It seems, if we lived in a normal situation, no one would go to any rallies and no political party would organize a rally in such a situation,” said Armenian National Congress (HAK) coordinator Levon Zurabyan at a press conference today.
According to him, even after the crimes of March 1, 2008, when 10 civilians were killed and which, until today, still remain unresolved, when the “regime” fired at its own people to place pressure on peaceful demonstrations, if the authorities registered success in at least one area, the people would be more comfortable in relating to this government.
Speaking on the government’s failures, Zarubyan noted: “They were never able to resolve this political crisis and its consequences, which arose in Armenia after those notorious events of March 1.”
Zarubyan emphasized that none of the issues were resolved, “which has serious consequences not only for the reason that, with that, the anti-democratic repressive regime is justified, that its power is maintained only through repression against its own people, but it’s also dangerous because it’s used by some international forces with the aim of putting pressure in the [Nagorno] Karabakh issue.”
