The Armenian National Congress (HAK) has been unable to resolve its main problem: swift change of government or early elections, said political analyst, blogger Suren Surenyants at a press conference in Yerevan today.
This fact, according to the analyst, has had a certain effect on HAK rallies. “If you notice, the numbers have dwindled somewhat. That is, there is a social stratum which strived for quick changes, that startum has now declined.”
Surenyants, however, stressed that HAK resolved one very important problem, which took place thanks to HAK leader Levon Ter-Perossian’s “charisma.”
“HAK has become an influential force, and it’s no longer possible to imagine developments in Armenia in the coming years without the [Armenian National] Congress,” he said.
Furthermore, Surenyants said, despite disappointments, “unlike oppositions of previous years, HAK has been able to create some institutional tools, due to which he will have a pivotal role in Armenia’s political life.”
