People’s Party leader Tigran Karapetyan began his ‘outdoor conference’ today by directing accusations at opposition bloc the Armenian National Congress (HAK).
“They say that Karapetyan is going to desert the people, go quietly and join HAK,” he said, asking those gathered, “Do you want it to be this way?” In response, the crowd had shouted “No!”
Note, prior to the start of the rally, HAK youth activists were handing out HAK leaflets to those gathered. This also became a subject of the People’s Party leader’s criticism.
“They want to raise their ratings by pushing the other aside. We’re fighting against the authorities, we’re not fighting against other, I don’t which, [political] forces,” he said.
Note, in response to an Epress.am journalist’s question, RA Police Yerevan City Department Regiment Commander Valery Osipyan said, according to police estimates, there were about 400 people at today’s rally. Recall, at Karapetyan’s last rally (on Jan. 19), the police estimated 3,500 to 3,800 participants.
