The Republic of Armenia government today approved a 2011 plan for developing barley production in the country. With the aim of implementing this program, the RA Ministry of Agriculture has received permission to acquire and import 2,000 tons of seeds from the first spring barley production from Ukraine and Russia.
RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated that villagers will be provided with the seeds free of charge, as part of a social assistance package. Fourteen thousand households in Armenia’s villages are to receive this assistance.
According to the RA government information and public relations department, the prime minister mandated the RA Ministry of Agriculture to do everything possible so that the funds allocated by the state do not disappear and the process is properly managed.
