Berd Residents Say Important Armenian State Agencies Moving their Offices to Ijevan

A group of traders and residents from the city of Berd in Tavush marz (province) called the Epress.am editorial office Wednesday and informed the staff that their city’s tax office has been moved to the Ijevan (the provincial capital), which has made them discontent and anxious.

The traders say they are also concerned because the roads from Berd to Ijevan are prone to accidents and landslides, and the 60 km provincial road will require two hours of their time, so that they will have to get to Ijevan for even the most minor issue having to do with the tax office.

Residents also informed Epress.am that they are sure that the cadastre office and hospital will also be moved to Ijevan.  The corresponding officials apparently told the traders the reason for the move is so that reports can be submitted electronically.

The vendors, however, say they are skeptical and don’t believe that a system to submit reports electronically exists, for example, in the village of Chinari bordering Azerbaijan, so how would such a system be implemented?

Berd residents say they don’t know the real reason why state agencies are moving their offices to Ijevan. One of the people who spoke to Epress.am said even the hospital wasn’t working normally, as patients were mainly sent to Ijevan or Yerevan to receive treatment and get their prescriptions filled.
