Yerevan City Hall Explains Why Inter-City Transport Minibus Stops are being Moved

The reason bus stops for public transportation minibuses coming to Yerevan from other cities in Armenia have been moved is so that traffic is not congested in the downtown core, according to a statement by Yerevan City Hall.

The municipality is suggesting that minibuses (commonly referred to as marshrutkas) coming to Yerevan from Aragatsotn marz (province), which travelled along Kievyan, Baghramyan, Paronyan and Proshyan streets, from now on stop not at Paronyan street, but stop at the central bus station coming along Leningradyan street and through the Tsitsernakaberd and Athens highway.

For the minibuses coming from Ararat marz (including those that stopped at the former Ayrarat cinema), the final stop being proposed is a dispatch area allocated in the square next to the railway station (pictured).

The minibuses coming from Gyumri, Artik, Stepanavan, Vanadzor and Spitak that stopped at the former Ayrarat cinema will now be stopping at the central bus station.

Also being proposed is that minibuses coming from Armavir marz and those that previously stopped at Saryan street now service passengers from the central bus station.

Those minibuses coming to the capital from the northern areas will now be expected to make their final stop at the northern bus station.
