Since this morning, the Armenian National Congress (HAK) central office has been receiving calls from its regional offices and residents from outside the capital. As told to Epress.am by HAK representative Armen Khachatryan, once again the public transportation minibuses that pick up passengers in the regions to bring them to the capital have not been operating ahead of the planned HAK rally today.
“A young man by the name of Gor from Artik informed us that the inter-city transport wasn’t working this morning. Ashot Zakaryan, head of HAK’s office in Gyumri, said that the [public] transport [vehicles] from Gyumri aren’t working either — beginning from 10:30 am, the minibuses in Armavir were also not operating, as told by head of HAK’s Armavir branch Armenak Khachatryan,” representatives of HAK headquarters told Epress.am today.
Epress.am also found out that the minibuses from the city of Etchmiadzin have been departing for Yerevan without passengers and only operating one-way — taking passengers from Yerevan to Etchmiadzin.
Recall, at a Jul. 26 meeting between ruling coalition delegation and opposition members, the Armenian National Congress representatives raised the issue of inter-city public transportation vehicles not operating on days when opposition rallies are held in the capital. Head of the ruling coalition delegation, MP Davit Harutyunyan had asked that all complaints and violations of procedure be sent to his delegation, promising to address this issue.
