The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF-D, or Dashnaktsutyun) issued a strongly worded statement today in which it refused to participate in the banquet dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia to be held in Los Angeles.
Commenting on the ARF-D’s decision, director of the ARF-D’s International Secretariat (in Armenian also known as Central Hai Dat office) Bureau in Yerevan Giro Manoyan noted that the statement is perhaps a result of certain prevalent moods.
“It’s understandable that there are several unresolved problems that have accumulated in Armenia, but the 20th anniversary testifies to our common victory and achievements. We have no right to be guided by personal relationships and emotional actions at events of this level; rather, we have to use the opportunity through such events to express our unity and cohesion while remaining true to our principles,” he said.
