Court Ruled on Armenian Traffic Police Chief’s Precautionary Measure

The court today ruled in favor of pre-trial detention in the case of head of Armenia’s national traffic police, Colonel Margar Ohanyan (pictured, on the right), charged with abuse of power and on suspicion of large-scale embezzlement under RA Criminal Code Article 308 Section 2 and Article 179 Section 3-1 in a criminal case examined by the RA Special Investigative Service.

Ohanyan was arrested on Aug. 30 and was officially dismissed from his position and moved to “reserve personnel” by RA Police Chief Alik Sargsyan on Aug. 31.
