Yerevan Marchers Demanded HAK Activist Tigran Araqelyan’s Release (PHOTOS)

Armenian National Congress (HAK) youth marched on the streets of the Armenian capital on Tuesday, demanding the immediate release of fellow HAK activist Tigran Araqelyan.

Recall, Araqelyan is currently serving a two-month pre-trial detention for an incident that occurred in early August for which he is being charged with violence against a representative of the authorities (RA Criminal Code Article 316).

During Monday’s late afternoon march, fellow activists were shouting through a megaphone that Araqelyan is being unlawfully detained. They were also distributing flyers and informing passers-by of the opposition’s upcoming Sept. 9 rally.

Marchers waved Armenian flags and held signs that read “Freedom,” “Freedom to Tigran,” “I (heart) Freedom,” and “Against Police Impunity,” among others.
