He Doesn’t Speak Armenian But He’s Learning: Araz Özbiliz Joins Armenian National Team

At the Avan Football Academy on Monday, Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) President Ruben Hayrapetyan introduced the newest player on the Armenian national team: AFC Ajax forward Araz Özbiliz.

The Dutch player of Armenian origin received an Armenian passport and a no. 23 Armenian team jersey, but announced that unfortunately, due to injuries he won’t be playing in the upcoming two Euro 2012 matches.

He noted that he also had an invitation from the Netherlands, but he choose Armenia because “his heart is with Armenia.”

Ozbiliz added that he doesn’t speak Armenian, but he’s learning.
