Within the scope of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Yerevan Zoo, SunChild International Environmental Festival is organizing a photography exhibit from Oct. 17–21 at the Yerevan History Museum.
According to the press statement issued by festival organizers, photos are divided into two categories: old and new. The old photos will be from the zoo’s archives and those provided by visitors, while the new ones will be the best photos submitted to the Zoo Animals Photo Contest.
Winners of the photo contest, which had two categories (amateur and professional photos), were announced on Monday. In the professional category, the winners were Sarkis Virabyan (1st place, photo of monkey below), Vahe Hakobyan (2nd place) and Pargev Ejuryan (3rd place). In the amateur category, the winners were Arman Karakhanyan (1st place, main photo pictured), Kristina Harutyunova (2nd place) and Pargev Ejuryan (3rd place). The top three winners in both categories received 100 thousand, 50 thousand and 25 thousand drams, respectively.
An independent jury decided the contest winners; however, visitors to the zoo will also be able to express their opinions: for the duration of the exhibit, visitors can vote for their favorite photo at the zoo. After the exhibit, organizers will announce the winner’s name and award him or her with a prize.
