Soldiers recruited by the army undergo a three-tier medical examination, which is held, in the first place, in their permanent place of deployment, in the regional military bases, then by the national medical commission, as well as by the medical commission at the central depot (where soldiers are gathered before being sent off to various military bases around the country), said defense minister Seyran Ohanyan, responding to journalists’ questions after the government meeting today as to why soldiers who are not healthy serve in Armenia’s Armed Forces.
“There is a national medical commission, the work of which is under strict control both by me and the healthcare minister, as well as by the country’s law enforcement agencies.
“On several occasions, we have implemented joint programs and if there have been any omissions, then we have taken the necessary action,” he said.
