Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in Georgia on official visit, today visited the St. Etchmiadzin Armenian Church in Tbilisi and later attended the unveiling of the bust of the great Armenian benefactor Alexander Mantashov, reads a statement on the Armenian president’s official website.
In Tbilisi, Sargsyan also met with members of Georgia’s Armenian community and answered their questions, which were mainly related to organizing and developing the spiritual, cultural and educational life of their community, strengthening their community’s relations with the homeland, improving the work of checkpoints at the border of the two countries and other issues.
Within the scope of his official visit, Sargsyan, together with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, participated at the opening of the Armenian-Georgian Business Forum.
The Armenian state leader spoke about investments made into the economy of Armenia, priority areas of the Armenian economy, positive changes registered in some areas of the economy in eliminating the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis and about tasks ahead.
“I am proud that the IT sector is developing rapidly in Armenia — this year we anticipate a 25 percent increase in this sector. The very fact that the world’s leading companies are interested and make investments in Armenia is certainly very pleasing for us and inspires great hope,” he said.
