It’s possible that Serop Der-Boghossian, who on Nov. 17 was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing minors, will be moved to a civil hospital in the near future. The Armenian-American businessman is suffering from an intestinal impasse.
As told to local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”) by Der-Boghossian’s attorney, Givi Hovhannisyan, the Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary inmate is being examined by local doctors.
“They are checking to see how advanced [his condition] is. After the doctors examine him, it will be clear whether he’ll be taken to hospital or not. But the issue is serious, and after this examination, we’ll ask him to be transferred to another hospital,” he said.
Dec. 17 is the last day that Der-Boghossian can appeal the Lori court’s ruling that sentenced him to 15 years behind bars. His attorney earlier had said that he will say whether they’ll appeal only after consulting with his client. Yesterday, Hovhannisyan said they will be filing an appeal with the Court of Appeals in the near future.
