Armenia Government Proposes Cancelling Daylight Saving Time

The Government of Armenia today discussed proposed amendments to the RA Law on the Procedure for Calculating Time put forth by MPs Galust Sahakyan and Karine Atshemyan.

If the legislation is adopted, Armenia will cancel the practice of reverting to Daylight Saving Time, which lawmakers say will improve people’s health. According to a statement by the Armenian government, the executive, considering the basis for the legislation to be understandable and acceptable, found that the bill needs elaboration and will be acceptable if its proposal is adopted.

The government proposed ceasing the practice of adopting Daylight Saving Time whereby clocks are advanced one hour in March and pushed back an hour in October so that afternoons rather than mornings have more daylight.
