Armenia’s biggest problems are the “disgraceful state of the economy, emigration and a judicial system that’s not impartial,” said Free Democrats party leader Khachatur Kokobelyan, speaking to reporters in the capital earlier today.
“There are two main reasons why people leave Armenia: the lack of jobs and justice. I compare emigration from Armenia with internal bleeding,” he said.
To solve these issues, Kokobelyan considered collaboration with other political groups likely. However, it’s impossible for the Free Democrats to create an alliance with parties that have different ideologies, such as, for example, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D), he said, since it would be “artificial” and thus, wouldn’t last long.
The party leader, however, did consider running in the upcoming parliamentary elections with the Heritage Party likely.
“I met with [Heritage Party leader] Raffi Hovannisian. We have many ideological commonalities with the Heritage Party. I think, there’s a public demand for the Heritage Party and the Free Democrats to run in the elections together,” he said.
