National Security Service Employees Want to Resign over Hrazdan Elections: Haykakan Jamanak

A few days ago, four employees of the Kotayk marz (province) subdivision of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS), in connection with the upcoming mayoral elections in Hrazdan, submitted letters of resignation, reports local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”), citing its sources.

Recall, in the running for the mayoral race are Republican Party of Armenia candidate and incumbent Aram Danielyan and Armenian National Congress Sasun Mikaelyan (no party affiliation).

The paper notes that the NSS officers have refused to carry out certain orders against Sasun Mikaelyan. To rectify the situation, one of the NSS deputy directors went to Hrazdan and convinced the officers to retract their resignation letters on the condition that they will no longer be given orders of a political nature, reports Haykakan Jamanak.

Convinced that the chances of Mikaelyan being elected are great, the authorities intend to put into circulation 400 fake passports of people who’ll vote Republican in the elections, adds Haykakan Jamanak.
