Syunik marzpet (regional councillor) Surik (Suren) Khachatryan, speaking to local daily Yerkir, refuted reports that a correspondent from the local news site 1in.am called him and he made indecent proposals to the reporter when speaking to him.
Khachatryan insists that no such thing happened and, in fact, he didn’t receive any calls from the US.
According to the marzpet, the “so-called journalist” did, in fact, dial the digits of his mobile number but with the 093 mobile code instead. Khachatryan informed the paper that he has filed a lawsuit against the website and the Jamanak paper, which published the same news in print. He said he is also preparing to sue ArmNews TV for covering the news. The paper notes that to check the facts, its staff also called the number (with the 093 code) and the man who answered didn’t wish to identify himself, but said that he was the one who spoke with 1in.am reporter. Yerkir mentioned that the voices of the two men were quite similar
Recall, 1in.am earlier reported that its correspondent in Los Angeles called the Syunik regional councillor to ask him about his dissertation on Syunik history from 1918–1920. The marzpet, however, according to the site, took the discussion in another direction, proposing to the journalist to move to discussing more personal matters. During the phone conversation, the man who presented himself as Surik Khachatryan told the reporter that he’s fallen in love and wants to speak with her parents. Later, the site published the audio recording of this conversation.
