Heritage Party MP Anahit Bakhshyan, nominated in the no. 12 constituency, considers the other five candidates nominated in the same district her competition. Apart from Bakhshyan, nominated in this district are Tigran Ter-Petrossian (Armenian National Congress, or HAK), Lyova Khachatryan (Prosperous Armenia Party), Karlen Gevorgyan (Armenian Revolutionary Federation, or Dashnaktsutyun), Ruben Masumyan (Rule of Law, or Orinats Yerkir), and journalist Gohar Veziryan (no party affiliation).
In conversation with Epress.am, Bakhshyan said her campaign will be very diverse and full of news.
“My slogan is ‘I’ve served and I will serve.’ I will speak within the scope of my powers; most importantly, about legislative initiatives — particularly in the education sector. I will ensure education for all,” said the opposition candidate, who is a teacher by profession.
Weighing in on the other opposition candidates nominated in the same district, Bakhshyan said she doesn’t believe that this fact gives the advantage to the ruling party candidate.
“Opposition candidates also differ from one another — one is backed by HAK; the other, Dashnaktsutyun; and I’m from the Heritage Party. We as oppositionists are likewise different. Voters will be given an opportunity not only to elect one candidate in the opposition, but also to make a choice among opposition candidates. I don’t see a problem,” she said.
