The Heritage Party hasn’t yet resolved the issue of having election campaign headquarters in Goris in the province of Syunik: recently, the opposition party attempted to secure a space for its election office in this southern Armenian city, however, to no avail.
“It’s hard to convince Syunik residents living in an atmosphere of fear: they refuse providing office space to the opposition, particularly the Heritage Party,” said the party’s faction spokesperson Hovsep Khurshudyan.
“Those people who were instrumental in providing us with a space, after a well-known incident, refused, asking us to return the keys to the office. We assume that Goris residents are afraid because they all know the situation there,” he said, adding that in any case they will try to find some solution or another.
Recall, the party’s campaign office which opened in Goris on Mar. 2 closed the following day. This news was conveyed to Epress.am by Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, who said that notorious Syunik regional governor (marzpet) Surik Khachatryan is in every way obstructing the Heritage Party to open a regional campaign office in Syunik by terrorizing those who provide a venue and their relatives.
Khurshudyan mentioned that neither law enforcement agencies nor the proper authorities have yet responded to their statement.
“We are now drawing our conclusions and if we don’t receive a response then we’ll decide our next steps and tasks,” said the party spokesperson.
