On Sept. 15, army conscript Khachatur Khachatryan, 19, was killed while posted at a military base in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the official report, fellow conscript Tigran Hakobyan shot him.
Tigran and Khachatur were conducting their military service together at the border with Azerbaijan, local daily Joghovurd reports.
Late at night, Tigran was taking a nap, while Khachatur climbed up to the top of the post to survey the situation and ensure that all was in order. At that moment, Tigran awoke and heard footsteps coming from the direction of the border and saw a moving figure. He immediately asked for the secret password: "Say the password! The password!"
Not getting a response and frightened by the silence, he fired several shots in the direction of the approaching shadow. Later, it turned out that approaching shadow was Khachatur.
