United States residents have responded to the massacre in Gyumri and its subsequent protests. On January 15, the Armenian Renaissance movement organized a protest in front of Armenian Consulate General of Los Angeles. The protest participants, like those in Gyumri, are demanding that the case investigation for the killings of 6 members of Avetisyan family be handed over to the Armenian law enforcement bodies.
“We support our people. We are standing next to Gyumretsis. Our people in Armenia are not alone,” said the event’s statement. Over 100 people attended the protest.
On January 17, at 3 PM a protest is to take place in Tbilisi, in front of the Armenian embassy in Georgia. The protest organizer Georgi Chinchaladze wrote on Facebook for participants to bring flowers and candles to the embassy “in solidarity with its neighboring country.”
