Artur Sargsyan, the man who drove through a police cordon last summer to deliver food to the opposition gunmen occupying a Yerevan police station and was subsequently jailed on suspicion of aiding the armed group, has died in hospital on Thursday, Armlur.am was told by Armenia Medical Center director Arsen Grigoryan.
Sargsyan was suffering from multiple health problems, many of which only worsened when he went on a nearly month-long hunger strike on the day of his second arrest. He was finally released on March 6, after a group of Armenian lawmakers filed a petition to the office of the General Prosecutor and agreed to post a bail on his behalf.
