COVID-19 contagion is on an unprecedented spike in Armenia, with 372 new cases and 12 reported deaths on May 27, while on the day before there were 5 reported deaths. The Ministry of Health reports deaths directly due to COVID-19 and deaths from other medical conditions accompanied by COVID-19, therefore the Ministry’s records of deaths so far are 98 directly and 44 from “other reasons”. The Ministry only reports the ages and gender of diseased patients specifying that they had accompanying chronical conditions.
The total number of active COVID-19 cases is 4377, a total of 53678 tests have been conducted in Armenia with a population under 3mln.
The State of Exception office held a meeting on May 26, after which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the condition related to the contagion is critical and raids are expected to enforce maintenance of rules of wearing masks gloves, disinfecting and keeping physical distance.
