Azerbaijan Launches Mortars at Chinar village: No Casualties: MoD Spokesperson

The situation continues to remain tense on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan near Tavush region. Armenia’s Ministry of Defense spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan reports that 120 mm mortars were employed by Azerbaijani army towards Chinar village. One of the mortar bombs fell on a private civilian house, the other two, in house yards. There are no casualties. 

Earlier on July 13, it was reported that 3 contract soldiers from Armenia were wounded in the escalation at the border since July 12, 2020. “They received minor shrapnel wounds, their lives are not endangered. 

On July 12, at midday Armenia’s Ministry of Defense reported that an attempt to trespass the border was made by Azerbaijani army, which was not left without action and the Armenian side responded. Later on, the Azerbaijani army started to shell the Armenian posts for a lengthy period of time, stopped at around 5:30 am and resumed a few hours later in the morning of July 13.

The Armenian side has reported of 2 police officers and 3 contract soldiers wounded, while the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has reported of 4 dead soldiers and at least 4 wounded soldiers.
