Resident of the village of Itsakar in Tavush marz, Meruzhan Harutyunyan, 33, killed his wife a few days ago and on May 14 voluntarily surrendered to the police, according to a statement [AM] on the official website of the RA Police.
Harutyunyan on May 12 strangled his wife, Hermine Chilingaryan, 31, in their bedroom, after which he fled. There were traces of violence on the woman's neck. Harutyunyan was arrested on murder charges.
A forensic examination was appointed. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, Itsakar village mayor Aram Danielyan, in conversation with Epress.am, said: "Probably the murder was committed on grounds of jealousy, since the family had problems this past month." The couple has three children: one boy and two girls.
