Rule of Law (OEK) party leader Artur Baghdasaryan (pictured, right) told his party colleagues that he intends to run for president in the 2018 election, reports local daily Zhoghovurd, citing its sources.
Baghdasaryan said he already got the green light from Moscow — by way of Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolai Bordyuzha and Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev.
Recall, Baghdasaryan was the president of Armenia's National Assembly (i.e. parliamentary speaker) until 2006, then he declared that OEK is an opposition party, and in 2008, he ran in the presidential elections, after which his party re-entered the ruling coalition. He was subsequently appointed Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, a position he held until April 2014.
