105 families living below the poverty line will receive an additional 1,000 AMD (less than $2.50 USD) per month from the state to help mitigate the recent increase in the cost of electricity, the Government of Armenia decided in its meeting today.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' estimates, each family spends around 200 kWh of electricity a month, and the amount of assistance was determined on this basis.
Earlier, RA President Serzh Sargsyan suggested RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan find ways to soften the impact of the electricity price hike on socially vulnerable families.
Recall, Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission on Tuesday decided to increase the electricity tariff by 10%.
