Captain Elbakyan and Major Hambardzumyan are Reported Dead 

Armenia’s Ministry of Defense Spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan reports of the death of Captian Sos Elbakyan and Major Garush Hambardzumyan from fire across the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

Azerbaijan has confirmed 11 deaths, including of General Major Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzoyev.

The situation on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Tavush region escalated on July 12. The two sides blame each other for violating the ceasefire and escalating the war. Since July 13, civilian settlements have been under shelling on both sides. Armenia reports of Chinar, Aygepar and Berd communities, while Azerbaijan reports of Dondar Gushchu, Alibeyli and Aghdam villages being under artillery fire.
