20-year-old Garegin Babakekhyan, a mandatory conscript serving in Karabakh Army was reported dead on April 3rd, from a “deadly gunshot injury around his chin”. Within one day, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported two different criminal accounts based on which investigation was underway: first, “negligibly driving someone to suicide”, then “violation of rules of combat duty and intentional deprivation of someone’s life in order to conceal the first criminal offense”.
According to the latest report of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Garegin Babakekhyan’s fellow serviceman is arrested over suspicions of intentional murder and violation of combat duty rules. Investigation is underway over criminal offences described in Criminal Code’s Article 365, Part 1, Article 104, Part 2, Clause 11.
Earlier on April 3, the Investigative Committee reported that the incident of Garegin Babakekhyan’s deadly injury during combat duty on Arpil 3 at 00:35 was investigated by the Second Garrison Investigative Department over “negligibly driving a fellow serviceman to suicide during combat duty or combat service”, as defined by the Criminal Code’s Article 360.1 Part 2, Clause 3. The same was reported by NK Defense Ministry.
